Collaborative Email Solutions

If you need to send to a large group of recipients or share an email account, the following options are available at CUIMC. Remember that all Email Use requirements apply for group accounts and messages.
NOTE: If you are considering using an external vendor for mass emails please see important information to prevent them from being scored as junk messages.

Mailing List

Often used for mass communication or discussion groups, this is a way to send messages to one email address and have it received by everyone who is "subscribed" to the list. They may also be referred to as listserv, which is the name of the platform/system.

Shared Mailbox

These are good for multiple users who need to check and respond to messages sent to a general email address, or want to use a common calendar for scheduling.

Microsoft 365 Groups, Teams, and Bookings

Those with a CUIMC Microsoft 365 email account can create their own groups to collaborate with other CUIMC account holders. Bookings allows for self-service appointment requests and more.

Contact Group

A self-created group of contacts for the convenience of sending messages, meeting requests, etc. to multiple email addresses at once. It may also be referred to as a Distribution list.

Broadcast Email

The CUMC Broadcast Email Policy provides information on sending an important message to the CUIMC community.

How do I request or create one of the above options?

Mailing Lists and Shared Mailboxes must first be requested via an online form, and are created by CUIMC IT.

Microsoft 365 Groups and Teams can be created when logged in to your CUIMC account in Outlook or a Microsoft 365 web portal.

Contact Groups can be created in Outlook, see Microsoft's tutorials for Contact Groups in Windows and Macintosh.
