Wired Student Residential Network

Access to the CUIMC wired network is available in most residential housing units in Bard Hall, Georgian, Towers, and 154 Haven buildings. Students are able to connect a properly registered and configured computer to the high-speed campus network via an active data port. Most buildings also offer wireless access.

Network Use

Full information about policies and requirements for the wired network can be found on the Network Use page. Students are expected to know and adhere to all requirements. This includes, but is not limited to:

Computers or other devices that do not comply with CUIMC requirements may be blocked from the network without advance notice.

Getting Connected

Students who want to use their laptops on the wired network can bring them in to the CUIMC IT Service Desk in the Hammer Building LL1-118. A technician will register it for access, please note that it may take a few business days after being registered before the computer will be able to connect to wired.

Computers must meet requirements found on the Connect to the Wired Network page including having installed all current critical operating system updates and patches, running a credible, updated antivirus/spyware program, and being free of viruses, trojans, and malware.

See instructions to Find a Computer's Hardware Address to look up required information for registering the computer. We will also need any jack port label information for the data port you wish to use in a student housing location. Note that some housing locations may not have active wired ports available.
