Automatic Email Message Reply Best Practices


When setting up any vacation or out of office replies in your email account, DO NOT include details that could be used for social engineering. Use options in Outlook to send a different message (or none at all) to those outside of your organization or your Contacts.

Consider whether you would announce your time off, phone number, job title, etc. to a room full of strangers. Automatically replying to a phishing or spam message with these details can alert hackers and provide them with enough information to gain entry or trust from others in your office.
