Sending Qualtrics Surveys by SMS


CUIMC’s license for Qualtrics does not include unlimited use to send surveys by SMS (text message).  To properly allocate its use, it must now be requested in advance.

SMS Credit Fees and Overages

SMS use is allocated by Qualtrics in bundles only.

SMS credits are used for all messages sent and delivered. The credit amount varies depending on the recipients' country of residence, size of the messages, and other factors defined on Qualtrics' SMS Distributions page, including SMS Credit information.

Requirements for Use

Sensitive data such as PHI and PII cannot be used with SMS distribution in Qualtrics.  It the responsibility of the department, division, and/or individual users of Qualtrics SMS to ensure no sensitive data is accessed or included with SMS distribution.

Tracking or notification of credit use in Qualtrics is not provided by CUIMC IT, It is up to the individual(s) or department.  Remaining credits can be seen by following steps on Qualtrics' SMS Distributions page (under the SMS Credits section titled Where to view remaining SMS credits).  Remember that others in your Qualtrics Division will be able to use remaining credits.

IMPORTANT: Qualtrics will automatically add and bill for a new bundle of 50,000 credits if the Qualtrics Division goes over their existing allotment.  The ARC provided for the prior allotment will be billed if/when this occurs.

Credit Saving Tips

In general, questions and responses over 160 characters will use more credits (more than 160 characters will create an additional SMS).
