Get Started With CUIMC Email


Once you have been notified that your CUIMC email (@cumc.columbia.edu) has been created, you should follow the steps below to finish setting it up.

Requirements

You must Enroll in CUIMC Duo if you haven't already. Duo is required for multifactor authentication when signing in to CUIMC email and Microsoft 365 Apps off campus.

Next Steps

  1. Verify that your account is active by signing in to Web Outlook:
    https://outlook.com/cumc.columbia.edu
  2.  Set up a profile on the myPassword website and make sure that you have changed your password from the default one that was provided to you.
    • If you have been using an MC domain (computer and network drive login) account with a password you created, continue to use that password. It synchronizes with CUIMC email.
    • Note: Always use the myPassword site to change, reset or troubleshoot CUIMC email/MC domain account and password issues.  Links found in Web Outlook or portals other than myPassword will not work.
  3. Verify that mail forwarding from your @columbia.edu address has been set up via the Manage My UNI page.
    IMPORTANTEmail Use at CUIMC prohibits automatic forwarding of your messages to an outside provider such as Gmail, iCloud, etc. If you forward emails to an outside provider, you may permanently lose incoming emails. Individual messages can be manually forwarded when in compliance with emaildata protection, or other relevant requirements.
  4. Set up your email on your computer and mobile device.
