The CUIMC IT Service Desk manages computing areas at the CUIMC campus. They are located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Hammer Health Sciences building, including the Library. Computers in these areas are:
Loaner laptop kiosks with Windows 10 laptops are available for checkout by students on a first-come, first-serve basis. They are located in the Hammer building and Vagelos Education Center; valid Columbia ID is required.
All locations require a Columbia or NYPH ID for access. All areas can be used 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

All computers have a number of software programs installed that allow for web browsing, word processing, data analysis, chart, graphic, and presentation creation, image editing, network file transfers, and curriculum support. All computers will allow you to use a personal USB key to save files and data. Some older model Windows 10 computers have disc drives with the ability to burn discs. IMPORTANT: The computers erase all data saved to the hard drive (My Documents, C: drive, etc) when restarted. Please save your work to your own media or a network drive as you go to avoid losing it if the computer freezes or crashes and has to restart.
Wireless network access is available on all floors of Hammer, in Bard Hall, the Towers, School of Nursing and many other locations on campus. If using your own computer you must follow Mercury wireless registration and set up steps..
The CUIMC IT Service Desk is also located in the Hammer Building LL1-118. Staff at the can provide initial troubleshooting for technical problems, and answer questions regarding IT resources on campus. Students can purchase USB keys and additional printer pages here as well.
