CUIMC faculty and staff can use NYPH's RightFax solution for efaxing (electronic faxing). Documents normally sent or received by a physical fax machine are sent or received electronically instead. efaxing is more convenient, especially for remote employees, more environmentally friendly, and cost-saving. There is no fee to use RightFax.
The RightFax service that CUIMC faculty and staff can use through NYP is online only, using your web browser or email. For additional help beyond this article, please see NYP IT's EFax Job Aids (CWID login or VPN may be needed to reach the page). While previously RightFax setup required software installation and usually a Shared Mailbox email account, these are no longer required.
Note: NYPH and CUIMC are phasing out physical fax machines on campus. If your department or group already uses a fax machine on campus, you can continue using it; however, we recommend considering moving to RightFax soon. There is no target date for physical fax decommission yet.
Note: Department-shared mailbox accounts are in the process of migration to the individual accounts of the users in that department. If your department has an active RightFax account and you cannot sign in using your own account, try your department-shared mailbox account credentials instead. You will be notified when your department completes the migration process.
NYPH is enforcing migration from analog lines to digital phone lines going forward, which means that CUIMC will be doing so as well. If your department or division has extenuating circumstances that require an analog line, please call the NYPH Service Desk at extension 4-Help (212-746-4357) to further assess the matter.
If your department or group already uses a fax at a CUIMC location, you can request that the fax number be converted to RightFax in the body of the email request, as specified above.
IMPORTANT: Once an analog line is converted to RightFax/digital, it cannot be reversed. Eventually, all analog lines will be decommissioned.
RightFax is offered and supported by NYP. For instructions and FAQs, please see NYP IT's EFax Job Aids. Note that this is an intranet site and may require CWID login or VPN to reach it if you are not on campus.
