Check for Mobile Device Management

Smartphones and tablets used at a company often have management software installed as security measure to help protect institutional data and equipment.

If you will be installing CUIMC's MobileIron on a smartphone or tablet - especially on a device that was ordered through CUIT - please first verify that there isn't another mobile device management (MDM) program installed. MobileIron will give an error during installation if another MDM is being used on the device.

iPhone and iPad

  1. From the home screen or your list of apps tap Settings
  2. Tap General
  3. Scroll down to find the Device Management field
    • If there is no Device Management field it is most likely not using any MDM
    • If the Device Management field reads NYP... it is already enrolled in MobileIron; you do not need to set it up or enroll again as this can be used with CUIMC's Epic apps.
    • If the Device Management field reads airwatch.cuit... or Columbia University, it is using CUIT's AirWatch/EMM. See steps below to Migrate to CUIMC MobileIron.CUIT AirWatch shown in Device Manager Profile on an iPhone

If you already know that an Android phone is using CUIT's AirWatch/EMM and you need to use MobileIron instead it is fine to use migration instructions below.

Migrate to CUIMC MobileIron

If your device has CUIT's AirWatch installed please follow these steps to change to CUIMC MobileIron for mobile device management, which will allow you to install and use Epic apps.
